Through various photographic techniques, we are able to capture moments in everyday life, document fragments of history, and present our unique observations of the world through images. The appeal of photography lies in its ability to transcend visual boundaries, extending our perspective into new realms, helping us rediscover overlooked details and imbuing these subtleties with fresh meaning. This study focuses on the Wuci area in Taichung City, the researcher’s hometown, exploring its historical, cultural, and scenic characteristics. Since its port opened in 1937, Wuci has become one of Taiwan's important harbors, carrying a rich historical and cultural legacy, with the majestic Wuci fishing port landscape being a prominent feature. The lives and traditions of its residents are closely linked to the region's development. Whether it is the local fishing culture or the distinctive charm of the streets, Wuci is imbued with historical value and unique regional characteristics that cannot be overlooked. This research is grounded in documentary photography, using photographic practice to explore the unique features of the Wuci area. Throughout this process, the researcher is not merely a recorder but also an active participant and observer, establishing a deep emotional connection with the community through the lens. These emotions are translated into images, which capture and present Wuci’s local beliefs, culture, humanistic characteristics, and traditional architecture. These images are woven into the context of daily life, showcasing the diverse features and irreplaceable value of the Wuci region. Wuci is one of Taichung City's important areas, with a profound historical and cultural background and distinctive geographical features.
