Abstract

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country, medical institutions have faced difficulties in providing in-person consultations to patients. Many healthcare facilities have actively worked on improving this situation. To ensure a reliable choice of healthcare institutions, patients can rely on disease care quality certification as a guarantee for receiving quality medical care. The top three cities in Taiwan that have passed disease care quality certification are Taipei City (11 institutions), Taichung City (6 institutions), New Taipei City (5 institutions), and Kaohsiung City (5 institutions). As Taichung City is the central hub of the central region and one of the key cities among the six municipalities in Taiwan, it holds significant importance as the primary area of investigation in this study.
Disease care quality certification provides a reference for patients seeking medical care and allows them to understand the quality of healthcare institutions. It represents a desired standard. After actual consultations, patients can compare the quality of healthcare institutions with the promises made by the certification, which represents their satisfaction with the certification. This study is also based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and examines whether the desire for certification and satisfaction with the certification are associated with variables in the Theory of Planned Behavior. It explores how patients' perceptions of the desire for and satisfaction with certification may influence their perceived behavior control, attitudes, and subjective norms. The aim is to establish a theoretical model related to disease care quality certification.
This study focuses on patients who have received medical care at institutions with disease care quality certification. Convenient sampling was used, and a total of 500 participants were sampled through an online questionnaire. Prior to answering the questionnaire, participants were asked to watch a video introducing the disease care quality certification. Among the respondents, 411 individuals (83.9%) indicated that they were aware of or had seen the certification, while 79 individuals (16.1%) responded that they were not aware of or had not seen it. Statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling, was conducted using SPSS and AMOS software.
Based on the analysis results, it was found that the desire for disease care quality certification and satisfaction with the certification have a positive impact on perceived behavior control, attitudes, and subjective norms. Furthermore, perceived behavior control, attitudes, and subjective norms all have a positive influence on the intention to purchased.
